During breakfast, Jane had told her three children that she would be going out for a bit, and they didn’t insist on accompanying her.

She didn’t want to expose her three children in front of others, especially those who liked to gossip. She didn’t know what they might think about her children.
She could tolerate some derogatory remarks, but she didn’t want her children to be hurt.
Upon hearing that Jane wouldn’t take him, Zachary felt a sense of loss.
“Alright. Zachary nodded, masking his disappointment.
Seeing the slight disappointment on Zachary’s face, Jane smiled and gently patted his head.
“When Mom returns, she’ll bring delicious food for you.”
“Mom, there’s a food festival in two days Can you spend time with us?”

Jane understood that she had spent less time with her children lately, so when Zachary brought this up, she immediately agreed.
“Sure, I’ll make an effort to spend time with you then.” Jane gently promised.

After reminding her three children a few more times, Jane stepped out of the house, accompanied by Thea.
Thea drove Jane directly to the Stanford Plaza. After Jane got out of the car, Thea parked it in a
separate spot.
As soon as she stepped out of the car, the staff at the restaurant recognized Jane.
Being staff at such a large restaurant, they had undergone common training, and even though Jane had come here with Drake before, it wasn’t a frequent occurrence.
But due to Drake’s prestigious status, they were always led to the best VIP room whenever they came, and since Drake always focused his attention on Jane during their visits, these staff members naturally remembered her well.
“Ms. Jane, you’ve arrived!” A staff member approached gently and welcomed Jane.
Jane nodded in polite acknowledgment, “Take me to room number ten.”
“Of course, please follow me.” The staff member found Jane’s request a bit unusual, since previously Jane would always go to the best VIP room with Drake.
However, room number ten was just a regular one, and with Jane’s reputation, why would she choose to go there?
The staff member didn’t know the complex feelings in Jane’s heart, but she stood there and looked- at her phone, reading the conversation in the group chat with her classmates.
Many people in the group had sent messages saying they had arrived, and many others had followed suit with agreements.
From their conversation, Jane learned that today’s event’s host, Acica, would be bringing her boyfriend along, sparking discussions within the group about Acica’s boyfriend.
As for Jane, after hearing Daniel’s words, when the group started discussing Acica’s boyfriend, the first person that came to her mind was Peterson.
Jane hadn’t liked Peterson much from the few times they had met, and her overall impression of him
wasn’t favorable.
Moreover, their two conglomerates were always in competitive relationships, and if they were to meet at the same table, it would be uncomfortable.
While Jane was contemplating whether or not to attend the gathering, the topic in the group shifted

“Everyone shouldn’t speak ill of Jane like that, she’s really nice.” A weak female voice spoke up, tinged with fear.
“Sarah, back when you were in school, Jane was your best friend. Why don’t you
accompany her now that she’s moved up? It seems like she no longer considers you a
friend.” A mocking and cold voice chimed in, making Jane taste a bitter flavor in her mouth.
“You all… you all…” Sarah stood there unable to defend herself, struggling to make excuses but failing to complete a sentence.
“As for her, still clinging to the rich guy, do you all know? She just got divorced recently and is raising her daughter alone. With a girl like her, who would dare accept her.”
“Could it be that we have a divorcée among us? That’s truly embarrassing.” When one person spoke, another immediately harmonized in agreement.
Hearing these discussions, Jane felt even more confused.
