Chapter 855
He had never been as angry in his entire life since the moment he was born as he was in the present. Karen had been ambushed and tortured and had been forced to jump down into a rushing river. Perhaps she might have been pushed down! Regardless, Karen was dying, she was definitely in agony. She died after being tortured.
Chuck believed that there was no combat expert in the world that would be able to defeat his mother so easily given her caliber! However, according to Chadrick, Karen’s arm had been broken and she had suffered serious injuries.
Blue veins bulge on Chuck’s face. In an instant, his anger reached its boiling point.
”This person’s strength must be so powerful that they’re on par with your mother! Otherwise, it’d be impossible for them to get your mother to jump down from here!” Chadrick raised his fist and pounded the ground. Blood stained from the back of his hand.
”They’re not only a combat expert, but also an extremely meticulous person. Otherwise, they couldn’t have attacked your mother! They absolutely couldn’t have pulled off a sneak attack!”
Chuck clenched his fists. His nails had penetrated deep into the flesh of his palm. However, the pain did not matter at the moment. Instead, it helped Chuck think clearer!
”Director Cannon, have you checked the surveillance cameras nearby? As long as the person appears in the footage, it’s impossible that they are untraceable!” Betty suggested, her eyes bloodshot.
”That must have been the assassin’s thoughts. There aren’t any suspicious people within ten miles of this location! That’s why I said that their strength is on par with Karen’s!” Chadrick coldly continued, “There is no expert in this world who can be a match for Chucky’s mother! There is absolutely no one! So…”
”The hidden family?” Chuck and Betty spoke at the same time. They were discussing a person capable of assassinating Karen. It was impossible for ordinary people to find such a person. Therefore, it had to be one of the three hidden families.
The Whitlock family? Would Adriana make a move on Karen? In theory, Adriana wouldn’t have a motive like that, would she? The Yeager family? Due to his falling out with Sabina, Chuck was aware that Sabina would go all out against him and Karen. After all, she had once been defeated by Karen. There’s one more family!” Betty was hinting at something. Chuck knew of the three hidden families: The Whitlock family, The Yeager family and The Cannon family. The latter had never shown up in front of him before.
”That’s right, Betty, how much do you know about the Cannon family?” Chuck asked. Chuck had yet to make contact with members of the Cannon family in his life. If Betty hadn’t reminded him, Chuck would have forgotten about the last hidden family.
”I don’t know much. Actually, President Lee secretly investigated the Cannon Family!” Betty informed.
”Secretly investigated?” Chadrick was stunned to hear that.
”Yes, President Lee has been secretly collecting information about the three hidden families for a decade. But for so many years, I have never asked about how much information President Lee has collected. Nevertheless, it must be a lot!”
Chadrick’s expression changed. “How much information is there about the Cannon family?”
”I don’t know. It was all done by President Lee herself! No one knows. I was only aware that she was doing this. I don’t know how much information she collected from the three hidden families in the past ten years!” Betty explained.
Chuck hadn’t expected that. Karen had done all of that silently for the past ten years? The point was, none of the Three Greatest Households had realized? Chuck was shocked by that information. That was right. It’s not likely that the three hidden families would know about Karen’s secret collection. Who would have known about something as unexpected as that? Wasn’t Karen’s foresight too strong? When she was in the Wolfen Sect, the request she had left behind was to let all of the Wolfen Sect members fight at least once. That was 20 years ago. Betty’s statement was another testament of her foresight. Ten years ago, when others had not been aware of the hidden families, she had already secretly investigated them! It was just too terrifying! What else had Karen foreseen?
”In any case, there must be a lot. By the way, I remember there was once when President Lee came back at night and didn’t sleep all night,” Betty suddenly recalled.
”Why? Why didn’t Mom sleep?”
”I heard President Lee muttering about the Cannon family. She looked very pained and blank at that time… Maybe that night, she collected some unknown news about the Cannon family!”
Once again, Chadrick was bewildered. “The Cannon family? What does she know about the Cannon family?”

Betty was taken aback by his behavior. ”Director Cannon? How can you be so sure?”
”I… it’s definitely not the Cannon family! The Cannon family has never shown up. They wouldn’t do anything to Karen!”
”It’s hard to say! What if the Cannon family did this on purpose because they wanted to turn us against the Yeager family or the Whitlock family?”
Chadrick was rendered speechless by that suggestion. He too thought that it was plausible. If there was anyone who could find someone to assassinate Karen, there was a ninety percent chance it was one of the hidden families. It could be any of the three families.
Chadrick’s expression was painful, “It’s impossible, it’s definitely impossible…”
”Dad, is everything okay?” Chuck enquired. There was something wrong with Chadrick’s expression.
”It’s okay, Betty, go on!!”
”Okay! You guys might not know what President Lee’s ultimate goal was. She told me that she wants the Young Master to be the richest person in the world!” Betty revealed.
Chuck was moved to the point where his eyes turned red.
”To President Lee, the hidden families are an obstacle, but not much of one! As long as no one crosses her, President Lee was a great person to get along with. However, if somebody did that, she would repay them a hundred fold! She made preparations in advance and gathered information about the three hidden families first so that the Young Master could get this position one day! All of this was done for the inheritance, as President Lee said before! She started her business three years ago for her own sake! After she had Chuck, everything she did was for him. She thought that the only way for him to live a stable life when she is in her old age is if he’s the richest person in the world! That way, she wouldn’t have to worry about him anymore…”
Chuck’s face was covered with tears.
”However, when President Lee suddenly passed away, no one knows where she left the things that she collected about the three hidden families. And now, she can’t accomplish her lifelong wish to help Chuck become the richest person in the world. I think… what President Lee wanted to do the most now would be to say sorry to you, Young Master! President Lee left before her wish could be fulfilled…”
Finally, Betty couldn’t go on and she burst into tears again. She had been with Karen for longer than Chadrick had. She understood Karen’s thoughts too well. After getting pregnant, Chuck was all she had. Otherwise, Karen would not have risked her life like that. She would have been able to enjoy happiness long ago.
