”Mr. Cannon, do you need someone to follow Young Master Chadrick? He seemed to be…” suggested the woman who had brought Chadrick over.
When Chadrick heard the news from Osford, he closed his eyes for a moment before he left the room without saying a word.
Osford shook his head. ”He doesn’t understand. Once a pawn is gone, it’s gone for good. There are still many pawns to use…”
”That’s just how Young Master Chadrick’s personality is! However, is Karen really dead?” The woman couldn’t help but ask.
”That’s right. She fell into the river from such a high place, so she must be dead! I’ve never expected this. When I chose her as a pawn twenty years ago, I thought that she would achieve something. But she died just like this.” Osford wept crocodile tears with a hint of regret.
”Then that’s a pity!” The woman commented indifferently.
”Pack up Chadrick’s things. He will go back to the country!” Osford instructed her.
”Yes, sir!” The woman went to prepare.
Chadrick drove to the wrecked bridge. Looking at the raging river, his last shred of hope finally vanquished. She had a car accident and crashed down from a height like that. There was no possible way that she would survive. Even though he didn’t want to admit it, Karen must have died there…
He remained silent for a long time, his expression blank as he muttered to himself… ”I’m sorry… I’ve been using you for so many years… I’m sorry.” Chadrick squatted on the bridge as he spoke his inner thoughts.
”I remember the first time I met you in school. It was Grandpa who let me meet you. In fact, I refused to meet you at the start, very much so. I wondered, how good can come out of a woman who can fight so well? Yet, when I saw you, I was bewildered! At that moment, I had only one though and that was to marry you. The first time I saw you, that was what I thought. I forgot about Grandpa’s mission. Later, after you gave birth to Chucky, I remembered why I had gotten into contact with you. I remember the first time I left our house. I couldn’t sleep all night. I don’t know if you slept that night, but I didn’t… I started to distance myself from you… But you didn’t understand. You didn’t understand my intentions. I never helped you, nor have I helped you in business matters. But when I wanted money, you always gave it to me as soon as possible…” He laughed sadly.
“Actually, I was never short of money. I just wanted you to distance yourself from me. However, you still didn’t get it. For twenty years, I look for you just to take your money each year. I’ve taken so much but you didn’t even question me… Sometimes, I think you are stupid. Every time I ask you for money, you would just give it to me. But now, I understand. I’m the one who’s stupid. I distanced myself from you for so many years. I’m the one who’s stupid… I know that you’ve started to doubt me recently. This is what I’ve always wanted! But… Now that I’m actually here, I’m honestly scared. I was scared that you would discover that I’ve been using you for so many years and I didn’t dare to say anything more to you. I understand that I’m the one who’s stupid.”
Chadrick sat alone on the bridge above the rushing river. As he spoke his inner thoughts, he maintained a light smile on his face. Yet, it was marred by silence, sadness and a complex feeling. Finally, his eyes turned red… ”How should I… Tell Chucky that you’re already…”

”Miss Yeager! Miss Yeager!” Sabina was dealing with the Yeager family’s matters at the moment. All of a sudden, Alfred rushed in.
”You don’t have to rush me. When the month is up, I’ll agree to let a man sleep with me!” Sabina thought that Alfred had come in for that reason.
”No, that’s not what I came here to say. Karen is dead!” Alfred informed excitedly.
Crash! The cup in Sabina’s hand fell to the ground and shattered into pieces. She was stunned! ”What did you say? Karen is dead? How did she die? Didn’t I tell you not to make a move first? I told you that I wanted to deal with her personally, didn’t I?” Sabina fumed, her tone extremely frigid.
”We didn’t do it. She was driving to her technology company when the road collapsed, sending her car plunging into the river.”
”Do you mean that huge, dangerous river?”
”Yes! It’s that river! She’s so unlucky that she died just like that.” Alfred too hadn’t wanted Karen to die so easily. After all, Karen had broken into the Yeager family previously. Her action had scared them out of their wits! How could they let Karen die so easily? How could he stand it?
”How could this be?” Sabina was flabbergasted.
”Isn’t it a good thing that Karen died? What do you think, Miss Yeager?” Alfred grinned slightly. As long as she was dead, all was well.
”She’s dead, but why did she die like this?”
”What’s the big deal? No matter how skilled she is, she’s not invincible. No matter how lucky she is, it’s useless when she encounters things like that!”
”You actually died just like that, you actually…” Sabina muttered to herself. She remembered the time when Karen had let her go. Suddenly, she let out a sigh!
”Now that Karen is gone, Chuck has nothing to worry about. Miss Yeager, you don’t have to wait any longer. Let’s just kill Chuck!” Alfred came up with an idea.
Sabina released a deep sigh. Perhaps it was her pity towards a combat expert! Who would have thought that Karen would die just like that?
“Chuck’s father is a man who lives off Karen, so he can’t help him much. Now that Karen is dead, Chuck might as well be an orphan. He may not be able to recover from this setback. Miss Yeager, this is a good opportunity!” Alfred explained, smiling.
