Chapter 869
”I have news about the Cannon family!” exclaimed Betty. She was running towards Chuck as she spoke. After several days of investigation, she finally had found some traces of the Cannon’s family’s working background through exhaustive means.
Chuck said, ”Then, let’s head over there right now!” He could not wait any longer. Willa’s death had truly put Chuck on the verge of madness! Chuck had dreamt of Willa every night throughout his past few days of suffering. He was determined to avenge Willa, his mother and Black Rose!
”Alright! I’ve already arranged for a car.” Betty knew Chuck was anxious, thus she had gotten everything ready.
”Ah, wait for me in the car. I’ll go and call Yvette!” Chuck told her. Betty entered the car and waited for Chuck.
”Honey!” Chuck ran to find Yvette.
”Hubby, I’m not going,” decided Yvette. The person who had assassinated Willa, namely Sabina, would find a way to assassinate her, just like how she had done to Willa! Yvette knew that extremely well. Therefore, she had decided to silently leave the place like how Willa had done. She did not want to drag Chuck into her troubles again.
”What are you going to do?” asked Chuck. He was aware of her intentions.
”I won’t do anything. I just have some personal matters to take care of.” Yvette shook her head and answered coldly. She could not look Chuck in the eyes.
Chuck’s eyes saw through her. Without another word, he kissed her.
Surprise filled Yvette’s gorgeous face. Their lips remained intertwined for rather long.
Finally, Chuck let go of her. ”Are you still leaving?”
”I…” Yvette felt resentful towards him. She had been caught off guard by Chuck’s actions! ”If you continue speaking, I’ll kiss you again and I won’t stop until you’ve run out of breath. Do you want that to happen?”
”No, I don’t!”
”Let’s go then!” Chuck brought Yvette out with him. Yvette sighed. They got into the car. Then, Betty drove them to their destination. The journey was short. ”This hotel should belong to the Cannons! We can go in to contact them,” Betty announced.
Chuck held Yvette’s hand tightly. ”Don’t run away!”
”I won’t,” Yvette replied sweetly with a sigh. The three of them entered the hotel.
A short while passed. The Cannon family was gathered in a room. ”Mr. Cannon, Chuck requests a meeting with you!” informed a subordinate respectfully.
”Chuck? Oh, that’s interesting. What does he want to see me for?” In the darkness, the head of the Cannon family, Osford Cannon’s turbid eyes were filled with ridicule!
”He didn’t mention anything about that, but he did say that you would not regret meeting him.”
”He’s quite confident, saying that I won’t regret it! However, he’s just a replacement pawn of Karen,” commented Osford in bursts of laughter. He was mocking Chuck.
”Mr. Cannon, so what do you want to do?”
”Where’s Chadrick? I want Chadrick to meet Chuck and do as I say! I can’t believe that Chuck is still in the United States. What’s Chadrick doing?”
”I’m not too sure. It’s as if he has gone missing!” replied the subordinate.
”That bastard! How many times have I told him that Karen is just a pawn he shouldn’t care about? She’s even dead now! How dare he not listen to me?” Osford was so enraged that he started coughing.
The moment Chadrick had entered the Cannon family, it was already decided that he would be the heir. However, in the past twenty years, his initial fiery ambition had slowly extinguished. Not only had he not made any progress, he had also ended up in such a state! He was giving everything up for a dead woman! Osford was incredibly disappointed in him!
”Judging from his personality, you must know that he might be…”
”Of course I do,” interrupted Osford. “He has no idea about my expectations towards him, but how much longer can I live? Eventually, he’ll be the head of the Cannon family, yet he’s still not living up to my expectations!”
”Shall I contact him?”
”There’s no need for that. There are some things that I can decide on his behalf. Otherwise, he will never grow up! Go, bring Chuck to me! However, he must be alone!” ordered Osford.
”Yes! Mr Cannon, please wait for a while!” the attendant nodded.
”Ah, Chuck. You weren’t qualified to join the Cannon family at first as you shouldn’t have been born in the first place! Your mother, Karen, was one of my pawns. You, on the other hand, aren’t even qualified to be one! However, things are different now. Karen, who I valued the most, has died. Since you are so proactive, I won’t let you down!” mused Osford. ”As Chadrick’s son, I don’t think you’ll mind me using you to give him a wake up call!” In the darkness, the head of Cannon family’s teeth shone as he laughed sinisterly. His entire face was covered in wrinkles and it exuded a terrifying aura!
”Mr. Cannon, I’ve brought Chuck here!”
”Let him in and only him alone!”
”Alright, Betty and Yvette who have come with Chuck insisted on coming with him, but he didn’t allow them to do so. What right do they have to come here?” responded the attendant.
”Well done! Let him in!”
”Yes, Mr. Cannon!”
”Luqman!” called the head of the Cannon family. Behind him, a man appeared. He was in his thirties and his face was wearing a stony expression! He was the top fighter of the Cannon family, Luqman Harris!
”What can I do for you, Mr. Cannon?” enquired Luqman. He waited for an order.
”When Chuck comes in later, test him for me! I want to know how much he lacks compared to his mother!”
”Yes, Mr. Cannon. Be rest assured! However, I have something to say, but I’m not quite sure if I have the right to do so,” said Luqman.
”Just tell me. The Harris family has worked for the Cannon family for so many years and you’ve contributed immensely!” praised Osford.
Luqman replied, ”Chuck is the son of Young Master Chadrick. What if Young Master Chadrick discovers how we’ve treated Chuck?”
”If Chadrick finds out about this, then so be it. Even if I were to kill Chuck in front of Chadrick, what can he do to me?” answered Osford with a sneer.
